English Language Department Students Organize Educational Campaign on World Day of Social Justice at Hay Askari Street
On Monday, 23 February 2026, third- and fourth-stage students from the Department of English at Cihan University–Erbil conducted an educational campaign on social justice at Hay Askari Street. The campaign was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Marwa Mahmood Ameen.
The participating students included Paband Fouad Abdulla and Mustafa Naseer Mustafa stage-three students, and Zhyar Soran Abdullah, Shahin Mohammed AbdulRazaq, and Belan Kakaziad Mamand stage–four students. The activity was organized in connection with the World Day of Social Justice, observed in February to raise awareness of social justice issues.
During the campaign, students from the Department of English actively engaged local residents in a variety of activities to raising awareness about social justice and promoting civic responsibility. They organized public sessions, interactive discussions, and short interviews to better understand community concerns regarding equality, access to public services, fairness in local governance, and social inclusion. The activities provided an open and welcoming space for dialogue, allowing participants to express their views, share personal experiences, and reflect on the importance of justice, respect, and human dignity.
Students also shared inspiring messages, including ‘Freedom is incomplete without social justice,’ emphasizing the connection between individual rights, collective responsibility, community engagement, and the overall well-being of society.
