On Thursday, 12 February 2026, third-stage students from the English Language Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized an awareness workshop at Shokhan Public School for 10th-grade students. The workshop focused on social media addiction, procrastination, strategies for balancing academic responsibilities, and safety tips for teens. The event was conducted under the supervision of Lecturer Pola Tahseen Mohammed.
The university delegation was warmly received by Ms. Pari Abdul Rahman, the school principal, who received the students and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in supporting teens’ personal and academic development.
The first session of the workshop included a scientific presentation titled “Procrastination and Academic Performance,” which explored how delaying tasks can negatively affect learning outcomes. The presenters shared practical time-management strategies and suggested ways to reduce distractions caused by excessive social media use
The presentation continued with interactive sessions focused on “Balancing Social Media and Study Routines”, teaching students how to maintain a healthy balance between online activity and academic responsibilities. Students learned to set limits, create structured routines, and improve focus while using digital platforms responsibly.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion, during which 10th-grade students actively shared experiences, asked questions, and received practical advice on managing stress, improving focus, and maintaining digital balance.
