English Language Department Students Observe Preschooler’s Language Development
On Sunday, November 23, second-stage students from the English Language Department at Cihan University–Erbil visited Cihan Kindergarten to observe early language development and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). The activity was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Marwa Mahmood Ameen.
Upon arrival, Assistant Lecturer Marwa Mahmood Ameen and the students were warmly received by Mr. Mahmood Imad Mohammed, the school principal.
The visit began with they were invited into a classroom by Ms. Sara Ahmed, classroom teacher, along with Ms. Soma and Ms. Delan, where they observed preschoolers’ communication skills and overall language development.
During the observation, the students noted the children’s ability to follow instructions, form simple sentences, pronounce sounds correctly, express their needs, take turns in conversations, maintain attention, use vocabulary appropriately, and any noticeable delays or difficulties in articulation. This provided them with insights into how young children respond to different prompts and how structured activities can effectively support their linguistic development.
