Faculty Members from the Departments of Business Administration and Law Attend a Specialized Seminar on China’s Transportation Technology Development
On Monday, 13 July 2026, as part of an international academic training program in China, Dr. Omaer Zubir Zahir, Head of the Department of Law and International Relations, and Assistant Lecturer Hevi Mohammed Qader from the Department of Business Administration at Cihan University – Erbil participated in a specialized seminar on China’s Transportation Technology Development.
The seminar was delivered by Mr. Shi Huailong and Mr. Liu Yu, lecturers at Southwest Jiaotong University, who presented the latest developments in China’s transportation technologies and modern railway engineering. During the seminar, Mr. Shi Huailong introduced the fundamentals of rail vehicles, explained the structure of Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) bogies, presented examples of advanced bogie designs, and discussed their dynamic behavior. He also highlighted the important role of these technologies in improving train stability, passenger safety, and the efficient operation of modern transportation systems.
The seminar continued with a presentation by Mr. Liu Yu, who highlighted China’s remarkable achievements in transportation technology. He explained the country’s continuous innovations in railway infrastructure, engineering, and intelligent transportation systems, emphasizing their contributions to improving transportation efficiency, safety, and sustainable development. He also presented a comparison of international high-speed railway operating speeds, highlighting China’s global leadership with an average operating speed of 274.6 km/h, followed by France (271.8 km/h), Japan (256.0 km/h), Spain (247.1 km/h), Germany (238.8 km/h), South Korea (202.1 km/h), Italy (195.2 km/h), Turkey (186.8 km/h), the United Kingdom (179.1 km/h), Sweden (176.4 km/h), Russia (175.6 km/h), and the United States (168.1 km/h).
At the end of the seminar, the participants gained a broader understanding of China’s transportation technology development, particularly its modern transportation innovations and engineering achievements. The seminar also promoted academic knowledge exchange and strengthened international cooperation between Cihan University – Erbil and Chinese educational institutions.
