Flag of Kurdistan Raised in a Ceremony at Cihan University-Erbil
On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, Cihan University-Erbil held a ceremony to commemorate Kurdistan Flag Day. The event began with a moment of silence and respect for the souls of the martyrs, followed by several speeches delivered by distinguished attendees. The ceremonial event was held at Cihan University-Erbil to honour the raising of the Kurdistan flag, a symbol of pride and significance.
The ceremony took place in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, and Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajgar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities, alongside members of the University Council, faculty, staff, and students.
This event underscored the university’s commitment to its cultural heritage and academic excellence, fostering a sense of unity and pride among attendees.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Al-Delawi, extended his congratulations to the people of Kurdistan, as well as the university’s faculty, staff, and students, on the occasion of Flag Day. He reflected on the historical significance of the Kurdistan flag and acknowledged the decision by the Kurdistan Parliament to honor and celebrate this day annually.
Prof. Dr. Al-Delawi expressed the university’s pride in raising the Kurdistan flag each year as part of its celebrations, emphasizing the institution’s role in fostering student development under the banner of the Kurdistan flag. He highlighted the university’s dedication to nurturing students’ talents and abilities within an academically rigorous environment, preparing them to become capable, knowledgeable young leaders.
He also underscored the importance of students applying their education and skills toward rebuilding the infrastructure of Kurdistan, while simultaneously upholding the flag’s honor, prestige, and cultural significance. At the conclusion of his speech, Prof. Dr. Amjad Sabir Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, extended heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Kurdistan Flag Day. He specifically honored the mothers of martyrs, as well as the students of Cihan University-Erbil and the entire Kurdish community, in his remarks.
