Kurdistan Regional Government Launches ‘News Service’ Project in Collaboration with Meta; Media Department Joins Launch Ceremony

On Monday, 24 November 2025, two lecturers from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil, Dr. Ammar Najmaddin Hawas and Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, along with fourth-year Media student Aso Ali Faraj, participated in the announcement ceremony of the News Service organized by the Department of Media and Information of the Kurdistan Regional Government. The event was attended by numerous journalists from various media institutions, as well as academics and researchers from educational centers across Erbil.

During the ceremony, the Department of Media and Information officially launched its pioneering program, News Service, with the active participation of the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil.

At the event, Jutyar Adil, Director of the Department of Media and Information, explained that the service launched for the first time in the Kurdistan Region in cooperation with Meta is a direct communication platform designed to provide the latest official information and data to journalists, media institutions, academics, and researchers. He highlighted that the service aims to deliver quick and organized access to government activities, policies, and programs. Information is sent directly to the registered WhatsApp numbers of participants, ensuring speed and effectiveness in communication.

The Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil, as a leading academic and professional center in journalism in the Kurdistan Region, actively participated in the event. The department has long contributed to the field academically by graduating numerous skilled journalists and media professionals.
