Law Department Students Raise Awareness on Democratic Rights at Tishk University

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, second-year students from the Department of Law at Cihan University delivered an awareness lecture to students of the College of Dentistry at Tishk University in Erbil.

Organized in coordination with Dr. Saya Mustafa from Tishk University’s College of Dentistry, the lecture thoroughly reviewed the legal and civil fundamentals related to the democratic process.

The students who presented were Masrour Niazi, Hana Diyar, and Mihraban Hassan. The lecture was divided into three main parts. The first part focused on the importance of exercising the right to vote, explaining how citizens’ active participation serves as a fundamental constitutional tool for shaping the government. The second part emphasized the individual’s right to make electoral decisions freely, highlighting the need to avoid tribal, regional, or other social and political pressures that could compromise the transparency of the electoral process.

The final part outlined the legal and ethical responsibilities of elected officials, stressing that their primary duty is to represent the entire community faithfully and honestly, not only those who supported them.
