Law Department Students Stage Dramatic Comeback to Defeat Physical Education and Sports Sciences Team

As part of the internal football league of Cihan University–Erbil, the sixth match of the tournament took place on Wednesday, 27 January 2026, featuring an intense and competitive clash between the Law Department students’ team and the second team of the Physical Education and Sports Sciences Department.

From the opening minutes, the second team of the Physical Education and Sports Sciences Department dominated the game, quickly reaching the opponent’s goal and scoring the opening goal. While the Law Department team was still recovering from the shock, they conceded a second goal, ending the first half in favor of the Physical Education and Sports Sciences team.

In the second half, the Law Department students returned to the pitch with high morale and strong determination, buoyed by the enthusiastic support of their fans. They scored their first goal of the match, restoring hope for a comeback. Meanwhile, signs of fatigue became evident among the players of the second Physical Education and Sports Sciences team due to the lack of sufficient substitutes, giving the Law Department team an opportunity to score a second goal and level the match.

As the game approached its final moments and seemed headed toward a penalty shootout, the Law Department players had other plans. In the closing minutes, they scored a decisive third goal, crushing their opponents’ hopes and making a remarkable “remontada” the defining moment of the encounter.

With this thrilling victory, the Law Department students’ team won the match 3–2, securing their qualification to the next round of the tournament.
