Law Department Students Visit the Forensic Directorate in Kurdistan Region
On November 27, 2025, students from the Law Department at Cihan University visited the Forensic Directorate (Directorate of Forensic Evidence) in the Kurdistan Region.
The visit was supervised by Dr. Ali Saleem Nuri, a lecturer in Criminal Law. The delegation was warmly received by one of the Directorate’s officers, Police Major Tahir Rahman, an expert in crime scene evidence collection.
During the visit, Major Tahir provided the students with a practical lesson on the principles of criminal investigation in a simulated crime scene. He offered a realistic simulation of how forensic evidence personnel collect evidence while adhering to legal procedures in a hypothetical murder case designed for educational purposes.
He later provided a detailed explanation of several topics concerning the Directorate in general and the crime scene in particular. He elaborated on the role of the Forensic Directorate in preserving evidence and its contribution to providing the judicial authorities with sufficient information, which in turn leads to the issuance of fair judicial rulings. Furthermore, he discussed the role and importance of the investigator in collecting and preserving evidence, as well as the essential qualities an investigator must possess to perform their role effectively.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Ali expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude on behalf of the Law Department to the Forensic Directorate for their time, effort, and warm hospitality.
