Media Department Students Conduct a Health Awareness Campaign
As part of a field activity held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, a group of students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, conducted a health awareness campaign at Sami Abdulrahman Park.
The campaign was carried out by fourth-stage Media Department students—Dana Saman, Rebaz Khoshawi, Payam Ari, and Urfa Haji—under the title “Prevention Is Better than Cure.” The students distributed informational brochures in the sports area of Sami Abdulrahman Park to visitors who were exercising.
The brochure content focused on four main pillars. The first was Regular Check-ups, emphasizing that periodic and early medical examinations are key to detecting health problems at an early stage. The second pillar was Balanced Diet, which highlighted the importance of consuming vegetables and fruits, reducing sugar and salt intake, and obtaining essential energy from natural food sources to strengthen the immune system. The third pillar, Physical Activity, encouraged citizens to engage in moderate exercise for at least 30 minutes daily, noting that physical activity is vital not only for heart and muscle health but also for reducing psychological stress and anxiety. The fourth pillar was Sufficient Sleep, which explained that healthy sleep—7 to 8 hours per night—helps the brain and body renew and regulate hormones, directly affecting daily activity levels.
During the campaign, citizens and athletes expressed their appreciation to the Media Department students for this initiative, which aimed to promote health awareness and spread a culture of healthy living within the community.
