Media Department Donates Extensive Collection of Books and Scientific Resources to Chamchamal Public Library

Following the launch of a support campaign for the reconstruction and restoration of the Chamchamal Public Library, the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil donated nearly 400 books and scientific resources in various fields to the library on Sunday, February 22, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim. This initiative was beneficial to the library, which had suffered extensive damage due to severe flooding last year.

Upon arrival, the supervising lecturer and a third-stage Media Department student, Sarkar Hussein Hamad, were received by Mr. Hersh Abdulrahman Mohammed, General Director of the library. They first toured the library building, which had been heavily affected by last year’s floods, noting that its original features as a functioning library had almost entirely disappeared. They then visited a hall where staff members and volunteers were actively organizing and cataloging thousands of donated books provided in support of the library.

During the visit, Mr. Hersh Abdulrahman expressed his deep gratitude to the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil for demonstrating cultural and intellectual responsibility by organizing this major book collection campaign. He noted that the donated books were received with great appreciation.

In addition, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal expressed his solidarity over the loss of most of the library’s books and resources as a result of last year’s natural disaster. He emphasized that this initiative by the Media Department represents only an initial effort and affirmed their readiness to provide further support and assistance in the future reconstruction of the library.

All collected books and scientific resources were officially handed over to the library administration at the end of the visit.
