Media Department Organizes Specialized Training on the Role of Sound in Media Production

To raise students’ professional skills in media production, the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil organized a training session titled ‘The Role of Sound in Producing Effective Media Messages’ at Cihan Academy on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

The training was presented by Mr. Jutyar Rafaat Abda, owner of JSN Studios, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim. It was attended by fourth-year students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil. At the beginning, the supervising lecturer welcomed the trainer and emphasized the importance of conducting this training for Media Department students.

Subsequently, Mr. Jutyar discussed sound as a fundamental element in media production and explained how it is considered one of the main pillars of the field. He also covered the different types of sound and the role each plays in media production. In addition, he highlighted the effects of sound on viewers’ emotions and the creation of meaning, and later explained the relationship between sound and image in delivering media messages.

During the training session, students contributed to enriching the training content through discussions and also practiced several sound exercises, which were evaluated by Mr. Jutyar. Afterwards, he initiated ongoing coordination between JSN Company and the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil to provide further services for the students.

At the end of the training, the supervising lecturer presented a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Jutyar on behalf of the Media Department. Certificates of participation were also awarded to the students who took part in the training.
