Media Department Participates in a Fundraising Campaign for Rojava
On Sunday, January 25, 2026, a group of students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, participated in a humanitarian campaign to collect aid for the Kurds in Rojava (Western Kurdistan).
The campaign was organized by the Mem u Zin Cultural Center and featured a special initiative in which the proceeds from the book Kobani were allocated to support the people of Rojava. The book is a novel by the prominent Kurdish author Jan Dost. It focuses on the struggle and resilience of the young men and women of Kobani, and the Kurdish people in general, in defending the city and liberating it from the threat of ISIS in the past.
Second-stage students from the Media Department—Amanj Sabri, Arkan Amir, Sahand Salah, Sahand Idris, and Marwan Siamand—took part in the campaign as a gesture of solidarity and support for their brothers and sisters in Rojava. These people are currently facing displacement and oppression as a result of injustice and occupation imposed by the Syrian government. During this harsh winter season, they are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance to help sustain their resilience.
