On Monday, February 2, 2026, as part of her scientific activities at Cihan University–Erbil, a student from the Department of Media, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismael Mawlood, conducted a seminar on the proper use of social media for students at Shabang Evening School for Girls.
The seminar was delivered by Najeeba Abdulghafoor, a fourth-stage student in the Department of Media. In the first part of the session, she addressed the phenomenon of social media addiction and its psychological and social impacts on youth, particularly in relation to time management and academic performance. She emphasized the importance of effective time organization and the ability to manage the overwhelming flow of information encountered on a daily basis.
Additionally, Najeeba discussed issues related to digital security and presented several practical strategies to help students protect their social media accounts from hacking and online surveillance. She strongly warned students against trusting unknown links and messages received through private messaging platforms.
At the end of the seminar, the school principal, Awaz Burhan, expressed her appreciation and gratitude to Najeeba Abdulghafoor for delivering this important seminar and for raising students’ awareness of the potential risks associated with social media use.
