Media Department Student Successfully Completes Environmental Training Course
In continuation of his active involvement in community service, Zêrevan Temo, a fourth-year student in the Department of Media at Cihan University-Erbil, successfully completed a specialized environmental training course in Akre.
The three-day course, which began on September 13, 2025, was jointly organized by the War and Wardel organizations in collaboration with the International Pollutants Elimination Network (IPEN). Held under the slogan “Revitalizing Our Connection with Earth: A Journey Towards Sustainability,” the program addressed critical issues including the preservation of natural resources, pollution reduction, sustainable development, and the protection of forests and water sources in the Akre region. These sessions were delivered by expert professors and academics, and the event drew wide participation from local activists and environmental advocates.
The involvement of a Media student in such initiatives carries particular significance, as media plays a vital role in raising public awareness and promoting a culture of environmental protection. Cihan University-Erbil has consistently encouraged its students to take part in extracurricular scientific and practical activities, aiming to enhance their skills and strengthen their engagement with pressing social and environmental issues.
At the closing ceremony, Zêrevan Temo was awarded a certificate of participation and recognition. His achievement highlights the university’s commitment to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to environmental sustainability, while fostering a vision of a cleaner, safer future for generations to come.
