Media Department Students Discuss ‘Health Awareness’ at Fakher Mergasori High School

To raise awareness among youth and highlight the media’s role in disseminating health information, a group of fourth-stage students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a seminar titled ‘The Role of Media in Developing Health Awareness’ for students at Fakher Mergasori High School. The seminar was delivered by the students Ahmed Kamaran, Sarwin Siamand, and Ranj Abdulrahman on Thursday, January 29, 2026, under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Dlan Ismael Mawlood.

At the beginning of the seminar, Ahmed Kamaran discussed the general importance of media in disseminating health information, explaining how media can serve as a bridge for delivering health messages to the new generation. In the second part, Sarwin Siamand highlighted how social media platforms can be effective tools for raising awareness about unhealthy behaviors, emphasizing the role of media in protecting youth from health risks.

In the final segment, Ranj Abdulrahman spoke about the responsibility of media professionals to deliver accurate and truthful information. He emphasized that students must learn to disseminate health information professionally and ethically in order to become a trusted voice within the community. The students stressed that ‘protecting human life is above all else’ and noted that media, as a powerful tool, can play a significant role in changing unhealthy behaviors and safeguarding the next generation from risks.

Finally, the principal of Fakher Mergasori High School expressed his gratitude to the presenters for delivering this important seminar and emphasized the value of organizing such activities to enhance students’ awareness.
