Media Department Students Launched an Environmental Campaign to Protect Wild Birds
On Sunday and Monday, January 25–26, 2026, Media Department students launched an environmental campaign to protect wild birds by providing food in mountainous regions. The campaign was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, with the active participation of media students Rizgar Salih, Ali Omer, and Jagarxwîn Rajab.
The students conducted a field visit to Mount Safeen and the Gali Zanta region, where wild birds face severe food shortages during this season due to freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall. During the campaign, significant quantities of grains were distributed across various locations in these mountainous areas.
Beyond its compassionate purpose, the initiative aimed to highlight the influential role of media students in raising public awareness about preserving the nature and environment of Kurdistan. The Head of the Media Department expressed appreciation for the students’ efforts, stating that such initiatives strengthen their sense of responsibility and demonstrate that media is not merely about reporting news but also about leading humanitarian efforts and serving the environment.
