Media Department Students Prepared an In-Depth Investigative Report at the Kurdistan Parliamentary Union
On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, a group of Media Department students from Cihan University – Erbil visited the Kurdistan Parliament. They aimed to know how important actions and decisions within the Kurdistan Parliament are made such as the election process, selection of members, and formation of leaders and legislative committees.
The visit was not a mere observational tour. The students were also explained the nuances of parliamentary procedures, climate, issues facing the legislature, and their importance to public service.
In addition, the students had a full tour of the Parliament’s facilities. They reviewed laws and bills passed by previous parliaments and had firsthand experience of how decisions were made and how debates in parliament unfolded. Notably, they met with ( Neemat Abdullah – Member of the first Parliamentary Session, Karim Bahri Bradosti – Member of the Second Parliamentary Session and Shirdil Tahsin – Member of the Third Parliamentary Session)>
Students were enthused about this valuable opportunity, which connected academia with real-world practice. They emphasized how the visit would help them understand journalistic work and improve the way they gather information and conduct interviews.
