Media Department Students Raise Awareness on Mobile Phone Use

As part of field activities aimed at promoting technological awareness within the community, a group of students from the Media Department at Cihan University–Erbil conducted a comprehensive awareness campaign in Qalat Market and Erbil city center on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The campaign was carried out under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim. Fourth-stage Media Department students Ako Akram, Aras Nazim, and Tanya Fattah distributed brochures and informational materials in Qalat Market, focusing on changing citizens’ perceptions of mobile devices. Through direct interaction with various segments of the public, the students explained effective ways to use mobile phones for scientific development and educational purposes.

Several impactful slogans were used during the activity to encourage productive use of mobile phones. These included ‘Turn your mobile into a library, not a prison,’ which highlighted the idea that mobile phones can serve as gateways to knowledge rather than sources of distraction. Another slogan, ‘Use your mobile for learning,’ emphasized the wide range of educational resources and online courses accessible through mobile devices. In addition, the slogan ‘Make yourself smart’ conveyed a message to young people to use technology as a tool to enhance their skills and abilities.
