Media Department Students Visit Mem û Zîn Cultural Centre in Erbil
On Saturday, December 13, 2025, a group of students from the Department of Media at Cihan University–Erbil, supervised by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal Hama Karim, visited the Mem û Zîn Cultural Centre in Erbil.
Upon their arrival, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal and the students were warmly received by Mr. Yaran Hiwa, Director of the Mem û Zîn Cultural Centre, who expressed his pleasure with this cultural activity organized by the Media Department of Cihan University–Erbil. An open dialogue and several interactive activities were conducted between both parties.
During the visit, Mr. Yaran Hiwa highlighted the Centre’s role in promoting culture in the Kurdistan Region. He also discussed the innovations and initiatives in the Centre’s working methodology, particularly its cultural connections across all four parts of Kurdistan to disseminate cultural products. In addition, he explained the Centre’s efforts to deliver Kurdish books to European countries, ensuring that Kurds in the diaspora are not deprived of access to printed materials in the Kurdish language. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of reading and expanding knowledge as key factors in achieving successful and professional media work. In this regard, he praised the cultural initiative undertaken by the Media Department.
The students actively participated in the discussion which helped them become more familiar with the role and function of cultural centres. Through a tour of the library, they also explored various scientific and cultural resources that support their academic and professional development.
Finally, Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Jamal expressed his sincere thanks to Mr. Yaran Hiwa, Director of the Mem û Zîn Cultural Centre, and conveyed his hope for continued cooperation and communication between cultural centres and academic institutions to better serve students in the future.
