Medical Laboratory Analysis Department Lecturer Participates in EDAN Scientific Seminar on Endoscopy and Medical Imaging Technologies in Beijing

On Friday, August 14, 2026, Sally Khalil Baqer, assistant lecturer in the Department of Medical Laboratory Analysis at Cihan University–Erbil, participated in a scientific seminar presented by EDAN at the conference hall of the New Century Hotel in Beijing, People’s Republic of China. The seminar was part of the scientific activities of the international training program on cervical cancer screening, early diagnosis, and treatment for developing countries.
The seminar featured a scientific and technical presentation on EDAN’s endoscopy and medical imaging systems and their applications in gynecology, with particular emphasis on technologies used for cervical examination, the assessment of abnormal changes and lesions, and support for early diagnosis.
The presentation highlighted the role of these systems in evaluating cervical precancerous lesions and abnormalities. Endoscopic and imaging technologies can be used during diagnostic evaluation, particularly following abnormal screening results, such as positive Human Papillomavirus (HPV) tests or abnormal Pap smear results. These technologies help identify suspicious areas and guide biopsy sampling when required for histopathological examination and accurate diagnosis.
The seminar also introduced the technical features of EDAN’s systems, including Ultra HD imaging, Intelligent Focus Adjustment, and image-processing and enhancement technologies. These features help provide clearer visualization of anatomical details and abnormal changes during examination.
The scientific presentations emphasized the importance of advanced imaging technologies in the evaluation and early diagnosis of cervical abnormalities, particularly the identification of precancerous lesions before they progress to more advanced stages. Such technologies can support clinical decisions regarding follow-up, biopsy, and appropriate treatment based on clinical and diagnostic findings.
The seminar provided an opportunity to learn about recent developments in endoscopy and medical imaging technologies and their potential applications in healthcare institutions and gynecology clinics to support the evaluation of cervical lesions and early diagnosis.
