Medical Laboratory Analysis Department Lecturer Visits the Clinical Molecular Diagnostic Center in China

On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Sali Khalil Baqir, Assistant Lecturer in the Medical Laboratory Analysis Department at Cihan University-Erbil, participated in a scientific field visit to the Clinical Molecular Diagnostic Center, the first affiliated hospital of Chongqing Medical University in the People’s Republic of China.
This visit took place as part of the international training course on screening, early diagnosis, and treatment of cervical cancer for developing countries, where the participants were welcomed by Li Wang, Assistant Researcher at the center.
During the visit, Li Wang, Assistant Researcher, initially provided a brief overview of the center’s activities and its role in implementing advanced molecular technologies for disease diagnosis and patient monitoring. He then accompanied the participants on a tour of the center’s specialized laboratories, where they became closely acquainted with a range of advanced equipment used in molecular and genetic testing, including modern techniques for detecting genetic changes and biomarkers associated with cancerous tumors. In addition, the hospital staff highlighted the quality assurance procedures used to ensure accurate laboratory results and explained the application of molecular techniques in monitoring cancer patients after treatment. These technologies have the capability to detect minimal residual disease and tumor recurrence at a very early stage, even when conventional tumor markers are present at very low levels, thereby supporting precise clinical decision-making.
This visit highlighted the importance of integrating molecular tests with clinical data to improve diagnostic accuracy and advance personalized medicine according to the latest systems and international protocols.
At the end of the visit, the participants and experts held a discussion on strengthening scientific relations and exchanging information regarding the latest medical devices.
