Medical Microbiology Department Students Visit Erbil International Hospital
First-year students of the Department of Medical Microbiology at Cihan University–Erbil undertook an educational hospital visit to Erbil International Hospital on February 10, 2026. The visit was organized as part of their academic enrichment and practical learning initiatives to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world clinical laboratory practices.
The students were accompanied and supervised by Dr. Hassan Mahmood Jindal, a lecturer in the Department of Medical Microbiology at Cihan University–Erbil, whose guidance ensured that the visit aligned with course learning objectives and professional training standards.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly received by Mr. Wshyar Nasraddin Mahmood, supervisor of Erbil International Hospital, who provided a comprehensive orientation highlighting the hospital’s organizational structure, diagnostic services, and quality assurance practices. The welcoming atmosphere facilitated an engaging and interactive learning environment for the students.
During the visit, the students were given a detailed guided tour of various hospital laboratories, where they were introduced to modern diagnostic instruments and advanced laboratory technologies. Emphasis was placed on microbiological diagnostic workflows, biosafety measures, sample handling procedures, and the clinical relevance of laboratory results in patient management. These demonstrations helped students understand the practical application of microbiology in clinical decision-making.
The visit proved to be a valuable educational experience, enhancing students’ understanding of hospital laboratory operations and professional responsibilities.
