Nutrition and Dietetics Department Students Had a Scientific Visit to the Coca-Cola Company

On May 11, 2023 (Thursday), the Nutrition and Dietetics Department of Cihan University-Erbil held a scientific and academic visit for its first-year students led by Assist. Prof. Dr. Bashdar Abuzed Sadee to the factory of the Coca-Cola Company in Khabat-Erbil.

The main purpose of this scientific trip was to introduce and involve students in the production of a variety of soft drinks manufactured by the Coca-Cola company. After the students were received and welcomed by the staff, they visited the different departments of the factory.

Firstly, all instructions related to the health and safety of students were explained by the trainee and they accompanied the students during the tour through the factory. Then students visited all departments of the different soft drink products. The staff of the Coca-Cola company explained in detail how soft drinks were produced starting from raw materials until sending them to the market.

Coca-Cola products are among the most well-known brands worldwide and this was a great opportunity for the students to be familiar with how these products are made practically in the factory. Secondly, students also visited another main department which produces mineral water known as Al-Waha.

Finally, students have been directed to the main laboratory of the factory. Different chemical and physical tests which are necessary to maintain the quality of the products were performed practically on the students. In the end, a seminar about the history and goals of the factory was presented to the students.
