Nutrition and Dietetics Department Students Participate in Erbil Street Bazaar Festival
On Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics participated in the Erbil Street Bazaar Festival, organized at the Erbil Street Bazaar, as part of the Bazaar’s first time hosting this festival in Erbil. The Department’s participation was conducted under the supervision of the Head of Department, Lecturer Tanya Salam, through an active student booth as part of the festival program.
During the one-day event, students provided practical community services focused on health screening and nutrition awareness. Using an InBody (body composition) assessment device, they measured key body composition indicators and explained how these results relate to weight management and overall health. The booth also offered on-site blood sugar checks and blood pressure measurements, allowing visitors to receive immediate feedback and basic guidance based on their readings.
In addition, the students delivered individual nutrition consultations tailored to visitors’ needs, answering questions and providing clear dietary recommendations. They also prepared simple diet plan outlines adapted to attendees’ lifestyles, body measurements, and health goals, emphasizing realistic steps that can be applied in daily life.
The participation concluded with strong public engagement, as many visitors benefited from the screening services and consultations. This activity reflected the Department’s commitment to community outreach by translating academic knowledge into practical support and promoting healthier lifestyle awareness through direct interaction with the community.
