On the day of Elimination of violence against Women, Cihan University-Erbil announced ‘Enlightening Women Week’
On the World Day of ‘Elimination of Violence Against Women’, the Cultural Center of Cihan University-Erbil announced Women’s Cultural Week.
‘Enlightening Women Week’ in Cihan University-Erbil started on Thursday, November 25th, 2021, concurrently with the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’, in the Conference Hall of Cihan University-Erbil with a speech ceremony.
Professor Amjad S. Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajgr, the Chairman of Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities, Representative of High Council of Women Affairs, Secretariat of Kurdistan Teachers’ Union, and a large number of lecturers, students and guests attended the ceremony
At the beginning of the ceremony, Professor Amjad S. Al-Delawi, president of Cihan University-Erbil, gave a speech on the importance of this day to raise the awareness of the individuals in the community to refrain from using violence against women. The president of Cihan University-Erbil added that women make up a large part of human life and have a great responsibility for daily lives. Therefore, we all need to look respectfully at the efforts and abilities of women and girls and support them.
On the same occasion, Dr. Nawzad Yahya Bajgr, the chairman of Board of Trustees of Cihan Universities, delivered a speech. After welcoming the guests, he said “The Cihan universities fully support women as woman means life.”
In another part of the ‘Enlightening Women Week’ ceremony, four short films were screened, expressing women’s suffering, as well as conveying the ability and proficiency of them in their lives.
Following the screening of the films, the attendees participated in the opening of a handicraft exhibition made by a number of women. Later, in another part of the first day of ‘Enlightening Women Week’ some paintings worked on by women artists were exhibited in the Gallery Center.
The evens of this week are scheduled to continue until December 1st,2021. It includes several other activities like cultural gatherings, seminars, women’s poetry festivals, book signing ceremony, theatre plays and some sports and artistic activities.
