Participating in Improving Education and Employment Dutch’s Program

On Tuesday, 6/7/2021, a delegation from Cihan University-Erbil was hosted by Luminus Technical University college in Amman, Jordan for seven days. They participated in the training program under the project “Improving education and employment prospects of vulnerable youth in Iraq through blended and virtual education” provided by Maastricht University, a public research university in Maastricht, Netherlands. It is sponsored by Nuffic, the Dutch organization for internationalization in education.
The project started on the first of September 2020 and ended on 31st March 2022 with grand of 393,362.00 Euro to support the university in Improving education and employment. Since then, several online workshops, training sessions were completed in addition to the face-to-face training at Luminus Technical University. This training included varies sessions discussing different personas, online learning techniques, course design techniques, and creative educational media.
The training aimed to develop the potential of three universities’ teaching staff (Cihan University-Erbil, Al-Mansour University College, and the University of Fallujah) to design, deliver, and facilitate blended and virtual courses that are relevant to the labor market. This was accomplished by utilizing modern teaching technologies, methodologies, and skills.
Another goal of this training course was to increase the capacity of administrative staff to get engaged with donors and employers to establish sustainable partnerships, affordability mechanisms, and employment initiatives. Besides, it tended to get unfortunate youth accessed to education and work.
Furthermore, it also aimed at developing long-term institutional connections between Cihan University-Erbil and Luminus Technical University in order to execute successful education for employment model in Erbil and provide Iraqi youth access to excellent education.
