Physiotherapy Department Students Participate in Community Activity at the Erbil Street Bazaar Festival
On Wednesday and Thursday, February 25 and 26, 2026, Physiotherapy Department students from Cihan University–Erbil participated in a community activity at the Erbil Street Bazaar Festival.
The activity was conducted under the supervision of Lecturer Tanya Salam, Head of the Physiotherapy Department, During the festival, the students conducted structured patient assessments, including history taking, evaluation of chief complaints, and observation of posture and movement. Basic clinical examinations—such as range of motion (ROM), muscle strength testing, and pain assessment—were performed to guide treatment decisions. Based on these findings, appropriate physiotherapy interventions were determined for each patient.
Various therapeutic modalities were applied under supervision. These included Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, which was used for pain relief, while mechanical therapy techniques were employed to improve mobility and function. Infrared and ultrasound therapies promoted circulation and tissue recovery, whereas laser and magnet therapies supported soft tissue healing.
The students also provided patient education on posture correction, ergonomics, and home exercises. This experience enhanced their clinical reasoning, practical skills, and confidence in managing patients in a real community setting.
