President of Cihan University-Erbil and South Korean Consul General Discuss Strengthening Academic Synergies
To fortify international scientific ties and foster academic exchange, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, visited the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in the Kurdistan Region on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
Accompanied by Prof. Dr. Ayad Hazim, Vice President for Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Salih Mustafa, Director of International Relations, the President was warmly received by Mr. Seungcheol Lim, the Consul General of South Korea.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi provided a comprehensive overview of Cihan University-Erbil’s history and its qualitative evolution. He highlighted the university’s academic structure, the expertise of its faculty, and its significant international achievements. Prof. Delawi emphasized that the primary objective of this visit is to establish strategic cooperation to benefit from South Korea’s pioneering experience in science and technology, thereby enhancing students’ professional competencies.
In response, Consul General Mr. Seungcheol Lim welcomed the delegation and reflected on South Korea’s remarkable journey of growth and innovation following the mid-20th century, which positioned it as a global leader. He expressed his enthusiasm for transferring this successful model to the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, pledging the Consulate’s full support in bridging Cihan University-Erbil with top-tier South Korean universities.
The session concluded with an exchange of constructive proposals on matters of mutual interest. Both parties agreed on developing a strategic roadmap for scientific and cultural exchange, which will be materialized through practical collaborative steps in the near future.
