Professor Dr. Al-Delawi Holds Strategic Discussions with International University Leaders on NAFSA Conference Sidelines

As an active participant member of a high-level Kurdistan Region delegation at the Annual NAFSA Conference for Education and Higher Learning in the United States Professor Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, President of Cihan University-Erbil, conducted several important meetings and conferences on the sidelines of the event.

In this framework, Professor Al-Delawi on Thursday, May 30, 2025, held meetings with three presidents of renowned international universities. The meetings were held with the President of Gakushuin University of Japan, the President of City University of Mexico, and a representative from Freiburg University of Germany.

During the meetings, the discussions were focused on how to create greater coordination and exchange of ideas. Topics also included mechanisms for participation in the Erasmus Plus program, student exchanges between universities particularly for graduate studies (master’s and doctoral programs), and conducting joint scientific conferences.

The President of Cihan University-Erbil indicated that efforts will continue to prepare memorandums of understanding with these universities, after which ideas and proposals will be thoroughly exchanged with the aim of drafting and moving to the implementation phase. He emphasized that these steps aim to strengthen Cihan University-Erbil’s international academic relations and open new doors for the university’s students and faculty members.
