Scientific Site Visit of Architectural Engineering Students to Royal Mall
On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, a group of second-year students from the Department of Architectural Engineering at Cihan University–Erbil participated in a scientific site visit to Royal Mall as part of their academic curriculum. The visit was supervised by Assistant Lecturer Lana Shahab Ahmed. The students were received by Mr. Ahmed Ali Aziz, a member of the mall’s administrative staff.
During the visit, Mr. Ahmed Ali Aziz explained the mall’s administrative and functional organization, including spatial distribution, horizontal and vertical circulation systems, emergency exits, fire safety regulations, and coordination between management and service departments. He emphasized the importance of precise architectural planning to accommodate high visitor capacity, ensure smooth circulation, and maintain environmental comfort within commercial spaces.
At the end of the visit, Mr. Ahmed Ali Aziz addressed the students and highlighted the value of academic visits in bridging theoretical study with real-world professional practice. He encouraged them to apply the insights gained from observing the mall’s design and operational systems to their academic projects and future careers in architectural engineering.
The students actively engaged throughout the visit by asking questions about design strategies, building services, and project management, which enhanced their understanding of the practical aspects of commercial architecture.
