Scientific trip-Urban Design and Landscape Design Sites visit
On the 25th of February 2015, as a part of “Urban Design” & “Landscape Design ” lecture, Dr. Sahar Hillal & Mr Omar Abdulwahab had commenced a scientific trip to the old neighborhood of Erbil city for Fourth year students (group A & B), as a part of the required unit of study to explore and examine and analysis the sites of project for each subject.
– Site 1 (Urban Design lecture) is nearby the Citadel within al-Mudahfarya & Juli street, which is named the “Arab district”, which include many heritage and conservation buildings, part of the the district had been chosen as main site, which was divided into 3 sites each will be allocated to different groups to develop the area.
– Site 2 (Landscape Design Lecture) is nearby the Citadel too, it is been allocated by them municipality to develop the area into landscape design. the site consist of 3 parts divided by streets which will pose a design challenge trying to connect all parts together without interrupting vehicle and pedestrian movements nearby and within the site, in addition to another chalange trying to connect the ensemble design to the Citadel site nearby.
