Scientific Visit: Nutrition and Dietetics Department Students Gained Insights into Professional Practice

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, third-stage students from the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics conducted a scientific visit to Sazan Askandar Nutritionist Clinic under the supervision of Lecturer Dr. Salih Zebari. Held as part of the students’ practical education and professional development, this visit aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and real-world practice, offering students valuable exposure to the daily activities of a nutritionist in a clinical setting.

Upon arrival at the clinic, the students were warmly received by Sazan Askandar, nutritionist at the clinic. During the visit, they learned about the procedures to conduct nutritional assessments, individualized diet planning, and patient counseling sessions under professional supervision.

Guided by Sazan Askandar, they observed practical applications of dietary interventions, participated in discussions on case management strategies, and explored the role of nutrition in disease prevention and health promotion. This visit provided realistic insights into the responsibilities and challenges faced by professional nutritionists.

Additionally, this visit enriched students’ understanding of clinical nutrition and reinforced the theoretical knowledge gained during their academic studies. It also highlighted the importance of practical training in preparing future professionals to meet the demands of the healthcare and wellness sectors.
