STUDENTS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING PERFORMED THE SOIL COMPACTION TEST AT CIHAN UNIVERSITY-ERBIL

On 19 September 2022, a group of students from the Department of Civil Engineering conducted a soil compaction test at Cihan University-Erbil using the modified proctor test method.

First, the students took the samples from various sides of the soil at Cihan University campus in order to conduct a test of the compaction. It is one of the most important soil tests before starting the construction of any project. Next, the students started the test works by rearranging the soil particles, expelling air and voids from the inside of the soil by mechanical energy, works to increase the density of the soil and improve its engineering properties such as shear resistance and permeability.

The aforementioned practical activities aim to enhance the student’s knowledge of their bachelor’s degree studies, strengthen their analytical skills, and increase the work experience gained after graduation.
