Students from the Department of English Language Deliver Insightful Seminar Presentations on World Mental Health at Darin High School
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, fourth-year students from the Department of English Language at Cihan University–Erbil delivered informative and insightful seminar presentations at Darin High School in conjunction with World Mental Health Awareness Day, observed annually on October 10. The event was held under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Marwa Mahmood.
Upon arrival, they were warmly received by Mr. Salm Sabah Salih, the school principal, and then delivered a series of engaging presentations highlighting the importance of World Mental Health Awareness Day. They discussed the causes and effects of mental health issues, the struggles faced by adolescents, and the common types of mental disorders affecting young people. The students also emphasized the importance of family and friends’ attention in supporting individuals facing mental health challenges. In addition, they explained the warning signs of mental health problems, suggested steps to nurture mental well-being, and offered self-care tips. They shared an inspiring “You are not alone” message to the audience. Furthermore, they provided practical guidance on overcoming mood disorders and on when and where to seek professional help for mental health difficulties.
To further expand knowledge and promote continued awareness within the school community, they distributed World Mental Health Awareness brochures to teachers and students in grades 10 and 11. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which participants asked insightful questions about mental health and related disorders.
