Students from the Informatics and Software Engineering Department Participate in Introducing Kurdish-Language Books in Celebration of International Mother Language Day
On Sunday, February 22, 2026, seven strategic projects aimed at the development and standardization of the Kurdish language were announced during a special ceremony organized by the Cabinet’s Advisory Office for Scientific Projects on Kurdish Language, Literature, and Culture.
Two students from the Departments of Informatics and Software Engineering, representing Cihan University–Erbil, attended the event. Aram Sattar, a fourth-year student, and Ahmed Marouf, a third-year student, presented their work on translating texts from several international languages into Kurdish and integrating them into electronic systems using a scientific software application.
During the seminar, Dr. Feryad Fadhil, an advisor to the Cabinet, delivered a detailed scientific presentation outlining the project’s objectives and components. He emphasized that language development is an ongoing process of learning and enrichment, and that the internationalization of the Kurdish language requires meticulous efforts in archiving, scientific analysis, and technological innovation.
He further explained that, within the framework of these strategic projects, the Kurdish language has been incorporated alongside other living world languages, including European languages, Chinese, and Korean. In terms of grammar, syntax, and morphology, linguistic studies were conducted on more than 30,000 Kurdish words, all of which were documented using a scientific software application.
During the ceremony, the Ministries of Education and Higher Education were encouraged to make effective use of these projects and integrate them into the curricula of schools, universities, and other academic and official institutions.
Additionally, a large collection of books focusing on the Kurdish alphabet, sentence structure, Kurdish literature, and literary criticism was distributed to the attendees.
