Students of General Education Department visit Cihan Radio and Television
On Thursday, November 11th, 2021, the Department of General Education organized a visit for a group of students from different stages to the Cihan radio and television, under the supervision of Dr. Ahmad Abd-Aun, the head of the department and Assistant Lecturer Dashne Abdullah Saeed. They were welcomed by Mr. Karwan Haidar, the director of Cihan radio and television. In addition, Mr. Karwan explained the mechanism of work of the Cihan radio and television channels. Later, they toured the radio and television studios, including the control rooms of the live broadcasting programs. Moreover, the students were briefed on how the programed are prepared and got to know the team and got explanations about the channel that broadcasts in English. Additionally, the channel’s director explained that the Cihan University-Erbil is the only university in Iraq with its own radio and televising channels.
It is worth mentioning that such visits are part of the plans of General Education Department to get students familiar to the labor market. The visit was useful as it resulted in an agreement with the director of the channel to divide the students into working groups and arrange them to work on English-speaking radio programs where these students have high qualifications to speak in direct coordination with the head of the department, specifically those who have inventive ideas related to radio and television programs.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Aoun thanked Mr. Karwan Haidar and the team for their welcoming and efforts in the field of media. They also emphasized the constant communication with the team to provide the radio with the renewed young energies aspiring to work in the media field, especially in English-speaking programs.
