Students of Public Administration Department present a seminar on ‘Facing Environmental Threats’
The students of the fourth stage in the Department of Public Administration, Cihan University-Erbil presented a seminar entitled “Managing Environmental Risks and Threats” on Thursday, December 22nd, 2021. The seminar included a discussion of several topics such as what risks management is, what types of these risks are and how to confront environmental threats.
The students also discussed the reasons and found solutions to environmental threats and risks, which have become the urgent need to repair the damages of civilization. Industrial and technological progress is a necessity for the continuation of human existence and human life and now it is under threat and facing the consequences of this progress through the exhaustion of the planet’s resources, global warming, climate change, hurricanes, floods and the loss of billions of tons of the ice of the North and Antarctic continents.
In addition to the erosion of the ozone layer and greenhouse gases, polluting emissions to the atmosphere has increased. ocean acidification and pollution, drought, desertification, deforestation and the removal of vegetation and forests are the other examples of environmental threats
At the end of the seminar, the students suggested raising awareness of the decision makers and citizens in general about the degree of environmental degradation, its effects and repercussions.
