Students of the General Education Department Conducted an Educational Seminar at Shaheed Mamoon Dabagh Preparatory School for Girls
On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, third-stage students from the General Education Department (ELT) at Cihan University-Erbil conducted an impactful educational seminar at Shaheed Mamoon Dabagh Preparatory School for Girls. The activity was part of a student-led initiative titled “Time Management & Learning English in a New Way,” aimed at equipping preparatory students with modern academic tools.
The university group was warmly received by the school’s principal, Ms. Rezan Faruq, and teaching staff members Ms. Tarza and Ms. Lavan. The presentation was meticulously structured to provide both theoretical understanding and practical application of essential student skills:
Yar Omed Hameed opened the session by introducing her group members and their academic background at Cihan University-Erbil. She provided a comprehensive introduction to the seminar’s theme, setting the stage for why adapting to new educational methods is vital for modern students.
Shewar Rushdy Mohamed led the discussion on the importance of time management. He detailed how planning and prioritizing can reduce stress. She specifically addressed “where the time goes” by breaking down a typical 24-hour cycle into study, sleep, mobile usage, and free time.
Mazin Sherwan Mustafa introduced an innovative framework for mastering the English language. He argued for changing the “way” rather than the language itself. His segment focused on non-traditional methods, such as utilizing TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram for short educational videos, listening to songs, and playing games in English to foster natural immersion.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the team distributed a specialized infographic flyer titled “The Student Success Blueprint”. This document served as a practical guide, summarizing key strategies such as setting clear daily goals, prioritizing urgent tasks like homework, and immersive language practice via social media and phone settings. Following the distribution, the students, administrators, and guests engaged in an active question-and-answer session. The principal, Ms. Rezan Faruq, expressed her appreciation for the initiative, noting that such peer-to-peer knowledge sharing is highly effective in motivating young learners to take ownership of their academic progress.
