Systematic Project Management in the Kurdistan Region in a Scientific Symposium

A number of academic staff from the Department of Civil Engineering, Cihan University-Erbil attended a seminar entitled ‘Lean Management’ in the Kurdistan region of Iraq on 24 May 2022 (Tuesday).

The seminar included an explanation of a new mechanism in project management that allows its role in reducing the time needed for projects and organizing the series of work and the possibility of applying it in companies and projects in the Kurdistan region of Iraq by Ms. Sonia Majid, a graduate student at Salahaddin University-Erbil.

The methodological management machine can be followed by individuals and groups and it facilitates the management process, integrity and organization well followed by some major companies such as Toyota Car Manufacturing Company. The principles of this management include; 1) determining customer value, meeting the needed criteria, and delivering the intended value to the end customer which is critical; 2) mapping the value stream which is the complete process necessary to supply a product or service followed by an assessment of how well the customer value is supplied; 3) making the product flow which includes preserving the workflow by attaining the optimal sequence of tasks; 4) using a pull logistic which implies producing according to the needs of the customer (what the customer wants when the customer wants), and 5) striving to the best in all operations which refers to strive for perfection at all times by continual improvement and the application of a relevant methodology to the process.
