The 5th International Joint Conference on Architectural and Civil Engineering Sciences: The Architectural Design and Theories Session
On the second day of the 5th International Joint Conference on Architectural and Civil Engineering Sciences, hosted by Cihan University-Erbil, Iraq in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia, a specialized session titled Architectural Design and Theories was held in the VIP Hall of Cihan University – Erbil. The session was attended by distinguished researchers, academic staff, and scholars from both national and international universities. It was chaired by Prof. Dr. Saad Isa Sarsam from Baghdad University, Iraq, and Dr. Rebwar Ismail Ibrahim from Cihan University-Erbil, Iraq.
Several studies were presented during the session, covering a range of cutting-edge technologies and their applications. Dr. Maszura Abdul Ghafar presented a study on the use of Extended Realities (XR) technologies in Chinese traditional museums, emphasizing their roles in enhancing education, supporting surgical navigation, and preserving cultural heritage. Additionally, Dr. Shairatul Akma Roslan from UPM, Malaysia, discussed her research on AI-driven automated feature extraction for detecting archaeological sites in Bujang Valley, North Peninsular Malaysia. She highlighted how AI, combined with remote sensing, aids in uncovering previously unknown archaeological sites.
Next, Prof. Dr. Hamza Salman Almamoori from the University of Babylon talked about how AI, big data, and machine learning are reshaping sectors, for instance, the economy, healthcare, and education. He discussed the impact of virtual systems, decentralized markets, and immersive technologies such as VR, AR, MR, and XR on urban development, environmental sustainability, and digital content creation. Moreover, Miss Diana Adil Hussein explored how AI and the Internet of Things (IoT) are revolutionizing automation in areas like smart lighting, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and security systems. She highlighted how these technologies improve energy efficiency, sustainability, and user comfort in buildings.
The session concluded with an engaging discussion, during which attendees posed insightful questions to the presenters. Also, Prof. Dr. Saad Isa Sarsam expressed his gratitude to Cihan University-Erbil for successfully organizing the conference and providing an excellent platform for scholarly discussion and collaboration.
