The Biomedical Sciences Department Organized a Scientific Visit to Delany Medical Laboratory

As a continuation of the interesting activities of the Biomedical Sciences Department at Cihan University – Erbil, a scientific visit was organized on Sunday, March 3, 2024, involving its first-year students under the supervision of Assistant Lecturer Mr. Mohammed M. Hussein.

The students were welcomed by Dr. Farman Mohammed, Manager of Delany Laboratory. This visit was held to enhance the students’ practical knowledge in their field. This is in line with the aforementioned department’s great emphasis on practical and fieldwork, as reflected in its curriculum through organized visits to various settings, including universities, medical laboratories, hospitals, and beauty centers.

During the visit, the students gained in-depth knowledge of the microbiology field, specifically on how to prepare various types of agar media, how to separate or identify different types of bacterial pathogens, and how to use medical laboratory equipment in general. This visit exemplifies one of the main objectives of Cihan University – Erbil, which is to familiarize its students with various hospitals, universities, and medical laboratories, facilitating their job placement after graduation.
