THE BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES DEPARTMENT WELCOMED THE DELEGATION FROM THE CLASSICAL SCHOOL OF THE MEDES
On March 1, 2023 at 1.00 p.m., the Biomedical Sciences Department of Cihan University – Erbil received a delegation consisting of academic staff (Ms. Marwa Adel, Ms. Lozan Amin, and Mr. Mohammed Muhsin) and students from the Classical School of the Medes. They were warmly welcomed by Dr. Ali M. Hussein, Head of the Biomedical Sciences Department.
On this day, a number of interesting activities were organized for the delegates with the main objective to introduce the Biomedical Sciences Department, its programme, courses, and activities to the delegates. The first activity was a seminar presentation on the Biomedical Sciences Department delivered by Dr. Ali M. Hussein at the Research Centre. This important presentation provided an introduction to the Bologna Process, its establishment, and how it is put into practice at this department and Cihan University – Erbil. It was later followed by a series of other presentations by the existing students of the aforementioned department. These included familiarizing the delegates with the scientific activities carried out by the staff as well as students of this department, knowledge sharing by a graduate student’s experience studying a programme related to the Biomedical Sciences field in the past, explanations of the job opportunities awaiting the students upon completion of this programme, and experiences of the current students studying the Biomedical Sciences field.
The next activity involved touring around the campus and Biomedical Sciences Department. The delegates initially visited various interesting places such as the Art Gallery, Cultural House, cafes, restaurants, library, and the ongoing international conference organized by Cihan University – Erbil. After being introduced to the Biomedical Sciences Department, the delegates visited the laboratories of this department. During the visit, the phlebotomy activity was carried out by the existing students of the above-mentioned in addition to the lab assistants. In this activity, a step-by-step guide to drawing blood was demonstrated along with an in-depth explanation. This was followed by a hands-on activity in that blood was drawn for several tests.
The last activity involved Dr. Ali M. Hussein providing a token or medal of appreciation to the academic staff of the Classical School of the Medes. Prior to departing, the academic staff and students of this school were also given goodie bags by Dr. Ali M. Hussein. They expressed their ‘Thank You’ message to Dr. Ali M. Hussein for everything, especially for the useful information they gained and for a wonderful day spent. They also look forward to visiting the Biomedical Sciences Department and Cihan University – Erbil again. The students are, especially passionate and interested to study the Biomedical Sciences programme at Cihan University – Erbil after completing high school.
