Closing Ceremony of Third International Academic Conference on Education and Language at Cihan University-Erbil
Under the auspices of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Aram Muhammad Qadir, and with the presence of a number of academics, researchers, and experts of the related fields, the third international academic conference on language and education took place at Cihan University-Erbil on Wednesday and Thursday, 1-2 March 2023. The conference ended with achieving some concrete results.
During the two days of the conference, 60 studies were presented through various panels by national and international researchers. In addition, following the presentation of all the panel’s research, several questions were asked by the conference attendees and positive recommendations were put forward by them to enrich the researches with their progressive views and criticisms which generated more enthusiasm among conference members. The researchers answered the participants’ questions, comments and opinions.
On Thursday, 2 March 2023, the conference ended at the Conference Hall of Cihan University-Erbil. For this purpose, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, president of Cihan University-Erbil, delivered a speech and after welcoming the guests said: “It is our pleasure that during these two days, a group of researchers, academics and experts have gathered here and discussed intensively through 15 panels”.
The president of Cihan University-Erbil mentioned an important point of the conference and said: “During the conference, some researchers asked us what they can do with their research after the conference. So, I came up with this view that in fact, the research of humanities researchers is more to promote their academic title, but I hope that your researches do not remain papers, but you intensify your efforts to implement it practically. In that case you can develop the human ability or the construction of the social infrastructure in social, political, administrative field.”
The president of Cihan University-Erbil devoted another part of his speech to how researches on sports, education, language, translation could be practiced. He emphasized that any research that cannot be implemented, it is not basically called an academic research, because the essence of research is addressing a problem and finding a practical solution. Unless the solutions suggesting recommendations for the emanating problem, it will be a journalistic article, not an academic research.
Finally, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi expressed his special gratitude to all those who have worked to promote and hold this conference over the past few months, especially the members of scientific committee, Conference preparation committee, administration and finance, media and communications and information technology. He also thanked researchers who participated in the conference with their valuable research and enriched the conference agenda.
Afterwards, Dr. Sirvan Abdul Khaliq, head of the Translation Department and a member of the conference preparatory committee, read the results and recommendations of the conference. He presented the suggested solutions to facing obstacles of learning a foreign language at the university. He mentioned the conference emphasis was on the unification of translation works particularly for the Kurdish language, and on responses to the challenges of technology in the field of language and translation. For this reason, he talked about the need for university students to be taught how to make accurate translation. Regarding education and sports, the conference focused on the role of technology in the education process, particularly how to use technology to teach and train students continuously. Many other significant points that are important for the current job market in the Kurdistan Region and the promotion of students’ skills and abilities for their related jobs were also indicated as the conclusion of the conference.
Then, a short video about the events and undertaken activities of the third international academic conference on education and language was shown to the audiences.
In the final section of the conference, Prof. Dr. Amjad Saber Al-Delawi, president of Cihan University-Erbil, thanked the conference’s main speakers. He also distributed certificates of participation to researchers and conference organizers. In this way, Cihan University-Erbil ended its work for the third academic international conference on Education and Language, and it is decided that the results and recommendations of the conference will be given due consideration for implementation.
