The College of Pharmacy at Cihan University-Erbil organizes a scientific visit to the Hawler Drug Store
On Tuesday 9th of May ,2023 the College of Pharmacy at Cihan University-Erbil organized a scientific visit for the students in the first stage to Hawler Drug Store. The purpose of the visit was to see all the available medicines for various pharmaceutical forms such as pills, capsules, children’s syrups, injections, as well as pharmaceutical cosmetic products (Tablets, Capsules, Syrup, Injections), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. (Fares Thanoun Hamid), and the Assistant Lecturer (Bodour Muhammad Jiyad).
The students were welcomed by the General Director, (Mr. Farhad Othman Karim), who explained how the mechanism of the store works and how it is managed by the pharmacist in charge. The supervisors in the store briefed the students on the available medicines, which include different products from 13 international pharmaceutical companies, and explained how the medicines are divided according to their scientific and commercial names. Moreover, they also briefed the students about the methods of keeping medicine within (GMP) specifications, the doses required for each medicine, how to give them, and the date of production and expiry date of the product.
This visit was important for the students to get acquainted with the work of drug stores, and their management, and to follow the necessary instructions to ensure safety and high quality besides getting various pharmaceutical information related to drugs and pharmaceutical preparations.
The visit was concluded by giving the students an opportunity to ask questions to the supervisors in the drug store regarding the medicines in their various forms.
