THE DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING ORGANIZED A SCIENTIFIC VISIT TO KARACHOG CEMENT PLANT, ERBIL
On 13 March 2022, the Department of Civil Engineering organized a scientific visit to Karachog Cement Plant involving second–stage students under the supervision of Dr. Ismail Khalifa and Assistance Lecturer Ms. Mais Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim. The objectives of the visit were to get the students familiar with the latest engineering projects related to cement plants. Upon arriving at Karachog Cement Plant, Dr. Ismail Khalifa, Assistance Lecturer Ms. Mais Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim, and the students were warmly welcomed by Mr. Adham Abed.
During the visit, Mr. Adham Abed explained the Karachog Cement Plant and its history to the students. The students were also exposed to various information related to different stages of cement production process starting from processing raw materials from the mountains and extending them through pipes characterized by a diameter of 6 meters and a length of about 30 meters to pass through the stages of liquidation, grinding, heating with the kiln, cooling and finally storage. On top of that, the production engineer Mr. Ariz Hoshyar and the production manager Mr. Maamon Abedat provided an in-depth explanation about the plant and laboratories that are related to examining the quality of cement and its mechanical, physical properties, calculating, the amount of compression, and other tests of cement quality.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Ismail Khalifa, Assistance Lecturer Ms. Mais Abdul Razzaq Ibrahim thanked Mr. Adham Abed, Mr. Ariz Hoshyar, and Mr. Maamon Abedat for their support and initiatives presented to the second-stage students.
