The Department of Community Health Nursing Organized a Field Visit to Erbil West Emergency Hospital
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Department of Community Health Nursing organized a field visit for fourth-year students to Erbil West Emergency Hospital.
The visit, supervised by Dr. Firas Ismael Mustafa, began as the hospital staff warmly received the students. The hospital’s administrative team then accompanied Dr. Firas and the students to introduce them to the nursing roles and main healthcare processes across various departments.
During the visit, the students toured the trauma unit, laboratory, kitchen, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) section, and inpatient wards.
Throughout the tour, Dr. Firas Ismael Mustafa provided scientific and practical explanations on key areas such as environmental hygiene standards, disinfection procedures, infection prevention and control, medical waste management, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and food safety protocols.
The students actively engaged with the hospital staff, asking questions and sharing observations about the hospital’s daily operations.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Firas expressed his gratitude to the hospital team for their cooperation and for providing students with the opportunity to gain practical insight into nursing work and hospital environments.
