The Department of English Students Highlight Multilingualism and Celebrate Cultural Diversity

On Monday, November 24, 2025, second- and third-stage students from the Department of English Language at Cihan University–Erbil visited Cihan International Elementary School to promote multilingualism and celebrate cultural diversity. The initiative was supervised by Lecturer Pola Tahseen Mohammad.

Upon arrival, Lecturer Pola Tahseen Mohammad and the students were warmly received by Ms. Narin Abdulqadir Rafaat, an English language teacher.

During the visit, the students engaged the school learners in a variety of interactive activities, including open-ended questions, simple translation exercises, songs, short phrases in multiple languages, storytelling sessions, language games, and cultural diversity quizzes. These activities helped the young learners explore how languages are used in daily communication and how they reflect different cultures, while also demonstrating the academic and social benefits of learning multiple languages.

The school students shared their own traditions, songs, poems, and foods, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere. The visit also emphasized how early exposure to multiple languages can enhance creativity, communication skills, and future learning opportunities.
