On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Department of Interior Design Engineering conducted a scientific visit to a furniture design company for third-stage students under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Sarkout Nour Al-Din.
During the visit, the students were received by the production supervisors, Mr. Rewar Suleiman and Mr. Bewar Suleiman. They explained all the details at each stage. The students were informed about the types of furniture, their uses, how they are designed and manufactured commercially, and the materials used in their production. They were also introduced to the stages of production, from the entry of raw materials into the factory to their release to the market as finished furniture for consumers.
The primary goal of the visit was to enhance the students’ knowledge and skills in the field of modern furniture design and manufacturing. The students attended an explanatory lecture on the modern materials used in the manufacture of furniture pieces. Discussions also took place between the students and the company officials, which further enhanced their understanding of modern materials, machinery, manufacturing methods, and jointing techniques.
The students toured the factory’s departments to learn about all stages of manufacturing and production.
At the end of the visit, the supervisor thanked the company for its cooperation and for providing all the necessary facilities to complete the visit in a beneficial manner for the students.
