The Department of Law Organizes a Visit to a Prominent Law Office

On Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the Law Department at Cihan University-Erbil organized an academic field visit to a prominent law office in Erbil. The visit was supervised by Dr. Ahmed Jowdah and Assistant Lecturer Saman Hassan.

Students from the second and fifth stages participated in the visit and were received by consulting lawyer Zmnako Ali Hussein. He provided a detailed explanation of the legal procedures involved in lawsuit, outlining the steps a lawyer follows from the acceptance of a case to the issuance of a verdict.

The presentation also addressed the preparation and submission of legal briefs and memoranda, along with the procedures for appearing before the courts. In terms of advocacy practice, students were introduced to the fundamentals of drafting strong legal pleadings, with particular emphasis on analyzing facts and applying the relevant legal texts accurately.

In addition, strategies for handling different types of cases such as criminal, civil, commercial, and administrative were discussed, highlighting how legal approaches must be adapted to suit each case.

Finally, the session placed strong emphasis on the Rules of Professional Conduct and the ethics of the legal profession. It was underscored that lawyers must uphold the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. The duties owed to clients, the courts, and fellow lawyers were also discussed, reinforcing the principle that professional ethics form the foundation of effective legal practice.
